National Council of Maori Nurses - NCMN
The inauguration Hui of the National Council of Maori Nurses was October 1983.
An international profile was immediately established by presenting papers in Israel, Rarotonga and Papua New Guinea.
The NCMN is the only national nurse's body mandated by iwi to represent Maori on health issues, gained by visiting iwi around the motu.
Professional and Workforce development are the core business strategies of NCMN. Many Maori nurses have been at the forefront in the development of health organisations.
Quality and "best practice" are also core business strategies and this includes creating strategic relationships with other national Maori associations and other nursing associations.

From Putiki Marae in 1997 to the inaugural AGM in Rotorua in 1998, Nga Ngaru Hauora O Aotearoa Incorporated was established. The journey "to advance Maori aspiration of whanau, hapu, Iwi/Pan tribal providers and to be a network of member services" began.
