Arctic Council
The Arctic Council is an intergovernmental forum for addressing many of the common concerns and challenges faced by the Arctic states; Canada, Denmark (including Greenland and the Faroe Islands), Finland, Iceland, Norway, the Russian Federation, Sweden and the United States. The Council is a unique forum for co-operation between national governments and indigenous peoples. Six international organizations representing many Arctic indigenous communities have the status of Permanent Participants of the Arctic Council and are involved in the work of the Council in full consultation with governments. The Arctic is an enormous area, sprawling over one sixth of the earths' landmass; more than 30 million km2 and twenty-four time zones. It has a population of about four million, including over thirty different indigenous peoples and dozens of languages. The Arctic is a region of vast natural resources and a very clean environment compared with most areas of the world.

BBC - Tribe
BBC Two's Tribe series follows explorer Bruce Parry as he lives amongst and attempts to understand these remote islands of indigenous culture as the pressures of the modern world exceedingly encroach on their existence. “Tribe is about looking at the way other people live and asking questions about the way we live. It's about family values, joie de vivre, free time, gender, sex, drugs, health and sustainable living. It's about everything that we talk about down the pub. Not just me and you but everyone. All our lives. But it's also about the global environmental and cultural threats that we know exist but that we don't know what best to do about. It's about commercialism and corporations and perceptions of our individual, materialistic world. It's about politics and social organisations." "Tribe is also about how indigenous communities around the world are under threat from disease, human rights abuse, water and land rights and marginalisation from nation states and corporations."
“It's about the hopes and wishes of indigenous communities trying to grapple with a mad modern world where they face losing their language, identity and in some cases, their lives. It's about people who are so important to the world, who could teach us all so much in these troubled times. That's what Tribe is to me.”

Diplomacy Monitor - Indigenous Peoples
The St. Thomas University School of Law Diplomacy Monitor utilizes its own proprietary technology developed specifically to monitor the document output of official government web sites in near real time. The system tracks hundreds of diplomacy-related web sites around the clock. Covered sites include those of heads of state, foreign ministries, embassies, missions and consulates. Newly issued communiqués, official statements, press briefings, position papers and news releases related to diplomacy or international trade are identified and submitted to editorial staff. Editorial staff review, annotate and categorize the identified documents several times throughout the United Nations (New York) business day (and usually more frequently). Documents often are made available to Diplomacy Monitor users within minutes of their release to the public by the originating governments.
