Shetland and Orkney Udal Law Group
Udal law is the ancient law in these islands from the time before they were incorporated into Scotland, it is threatened by modern Scots law and European Union law. It is very different from Scots law and deals with some areas of interest to indigenous people including shoreline and water rights. Under Udal law, people "own their own property under God" as opposed to having it granted to them by the Crown.
