Dreamcatcher Aboriginal Youth Conference
The Vision: At twelve years old she had a vision of reaching aboriginal youth with the message of healing and hope. This vision became a reality, for Val Courchene, when in 1993 Grant MacEwan’s Child and Youth Care program acted on Val’s suggestion and the Dreamcatcher Aboriginal Youth conference was born. Aboriginal youth joined together in celebrating the strengths and vitality of adolescence in an experience that strengthened the self by sharing the joys of faith, healing and tradition. With a new sense of self, youth left the conference with the courage to pursue and obtain their dreams.
