The first annual 7th Generation Aboriginal Youth Hockey Tournament was successful from the first drop of the puck to the last. This tournament is dedicated to reaching it's goal which is to promote healthy lifestyle choices for the First Nation Youth by organizing sporting events such as this one. We havwe learned that participating in sporting events teaches children and youth proper skill development. More importantly, youth learn the value of teamwork, community pride and the development of social skills, which increases confidence and self-esteem.

Dreamcatcher Aboriginal Youth Conference
The Vision: At twelve years old she had a vision of reaching aboriginal youth with the message of healing and hope. This vision became a reality, for Val Courchene, when in 1993 Grant MacEwan’s Child and Youth Care program acted on Val’s suggestion and the Dreamcatcher Aboriginal Youth conference was born. Aboriginal youth joined together in celebrating the strengths and vitality of adolescence in an experience that strengthened the self by sharing the joys of faith, healing and tradition. With a new sense of self, youth left the conference with the courage to pursue and obtain their dreams.
