Association of BC First Nations Treatment Programs
This association was incorporated in 1998 and consists of the 11 First Nations treatment centres/programs situated throughout the province of BC. 9 offering residential treatment and 2 offering outpatient treatment for substance abuse. The members meet quarterly to discuss issues, concerns,new developments surrounding addictions as well as act as a support network to each other.

Avataq Cultural Institute
Non-profit organisation created by the Inuit of Nunavik (Labrador
peninsula) to protect and promote their traditional culture. The programmes include
archaeology, oral history, place names, genealogy, etc. The site also present a sample of the
Inuit art collection that was donated to the Institute by the Department of Indian Affairs and
the North, Canada.

BC Aboriginal Child Care Society
The purposes of the Society are to:
1. Develop and deliver Aboriginal child care services in British Columbia.
2. Create awareness and understanding in the broader community about Aboriginal needs and
desires in child care services.

BEAHR - Building Environmental Aboriginal Human Resources
In 2001, a dynamic new initiative was born. National in scope, BEAHR (Building Environmental Aboriginal Human Resources) took on the important task of increasing Aboriginal employment in the environment sector. Through career awareness programs, training and employment resources, and recognition of environmental excellence, BEAHR has made excellent progress toward this goal.
