Canada-Indian Treaties shows areas covered by treaties from pre-Confederation to 1923. Historical Indian Treaties describes the history of Canadian and Aboriginal relations in terms of political agreements called treaties. These treaties varied in purpose and scope depending upon the circumstances and objectives of the parties making them.

Archives of Ontario: James Bay Treaty Turns 100
The year 2005 marks the centennial of the James Bay Treaty, also known as Treaty No. 9. The treaty was signed at 14 hinterland settlements during the summers of 1905-1906 by the ancestors of today’s Nishnawabe-Aski Nation.

Thirteen documents representing various types of arrangements between Aboriginal Peoples and representatives of the government of Canada have been selected for the SchoolNet Digital Collections project by the National Archives of Canada. These important documents from Record Group 10 (RG 10, Records relating to Indian Affairs) are a most valuable and timely resource which merits diffusion to a wide Canadian audience. The documents furnish the basis for a better understanding of the relationships between the two negotiating parties within the context of European settlement and land development on Canadian territory.
