Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies
(SIIT) has been in existence since 1976, offering training and education programs to First
Nations adults in Saskatchewan. In 1995/96 there were over 1200 students enrolled at
SIIT in the wide range of programming provided throughout the province, both on and
off-reserve.

Trent University Native Studies Department
The Native studies program at Trent University is the oldest of its kind in Canada. It was established in 1969
to provide appropriate education for native people to teach non-native students about native cultures and the native situation in Canada. Starting in 1989, Trent was also the first Canadian University to offer an Honours year in Native Studies. Trent now offers a
Master of Arts degree in Native Studies, also the first program of its kind in Canada. In addition, we offer two year diploma programs in Native Studies and in
