The purpose of the Aboriginal Bursary System is to provide Aboriginal students with a valuable tool to facilitate their pursuit of post-secondary studies. These awards are made available by various organizations and institutions. Bursaries may be searched by regions, disciplines, providers and key words.

Aboriginal Veterans Scholarship Trust
The establishment of the Aboriginal Veterans Scholarship Trust will forever enshrine the contributions made by Aboriginal veterans in the defense of Canada. Under the management of the National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation, interest from the trust will provide Aboriginal youth with the opportunity to pursue a university education in all areas related to economic development and self-government.

Legal Studies for Aboriginal People Bursary Program
To promote equitable representation of Aboriginal people in the legal profession, the Department of Justice offers financial assistance to Métis and Non-Status Indians who wish to attend law school. Through the Legal Studies for Aboriginal People Bursary Program (LSAP), the Department of Justice awards a limited number of bursaries each year. Bursaries are awarded yearly based on the availability of funds. Applications are available online.

As part of CHUM Television's commitment to encouraging Aboriginal participation in Canadian broadcasting, MuchMusic is proud to present the Aboriginal Youth Scholarship!
The $3,000 scholarship* - created in partnership with AYN (Aboriginal Youth Network) - will be awarded to the individual who best demonstrates skill, talent, excellence and enthusiasm in pursuing a future in the broadcast industry.
Open to all Aboriginal Canadians under 25.

RBC Aboriginal Student Awards Program
Launched in 1992 to assist Aboriginal students achieve post secondary education, and provide an opportunity for Royal Bank to strengthen its relationship with the Native community. All status Indians, non-status Indians, Inuit, or Metis are eligible to apply. Each year, five students will receive $4,000.00 annually for their education expenses, to a maximum of four years at university or two years at college, in disciplines related (but not restricted) to the Financial Industry. To be eligible applications must be received at Royal Bank by January 31st of each year.

Xerox Canada's Aboriginal Scholarship Program
Established in 1994, Xerox Canada's Aboriginal Scholarship Program was designed to assist the advancement of Aboriginal Peoples' participation in an increasingly technologically enriched workplace and the new digital economy. The program encourages the development of information technology skills and knowledge, thereby promoting the use of hardware, software and new technologies to support the Aboriginal community's economic aspirations with rewarding careers in the information age. Due to changing times, the scholarship program has evolved to now recognize young business leaders too.
