Save The Montagnard People, Inc. (STMP)
Aborigines of Indochina, the most enduring war allies in American history ... a vanishing culture that offers much for our world. STMP was founded in 1986 by U.S. Special Forces veterans of the Vietnam War. Our ranks are open to all who love these magnificient people. The Vietnam War destroyed 85% of their villages and killed one third of their 1.5 million people. Since the communist victory in 1975, ethnic cleansing and forced assimilation have reduced/diluted their population
to about 600,000. Unless the Vietnamese Government reverses its policy of "Cultural Leveling," in another 25
years the Montagnard hill tribes of Vietnam will be extinct.

Taiwan Aboriginal Culture Park
The Taiwan Aboriginal Culture Park is located at "Fu-gu-wan" in Machia Township, Pingtung County, and was developed by the Department of Civil Affairs of the Taiwan Provincial Government. The aim of this facility is to preserve and maintain the culture of the Taiwanese aborigines, encourage academic research and the exchange of knowledge, provide social education, and to develop tourism. The nine aborigine tribes of Taiwan speak languages belonging to the Austronesian language family. The Austronesian languages are among the most widely distributed of the world's language families: The area inhabited by Austronesian peoples extends from Madagascar in the west to Easter Island in the east; and from Taiwan in the north to New Zealand in the south. Austronesian speakers on Taiwan can be roughly divided into the "aboriginal" tribes and the "Pingpu" tribes. Although the "aboriginal" tribes still preserve their languages, customs, and village social structure, they are now facing the impact of rapid modernization.

Taiwan's Aboriginal Peoples
The Aboriginal Peoples of Taiwan are the First Nations of Taiwan. They number approximately 400,000 or about 1.7% of Taiwan's 22 million people. (A proportion similar to that of Australia or Canada) Taiwan's First Nations were independent before Taiwan was invaded. Contrary to the propaganda of the People's Republic of China (PRC) or the Republic of China (ROC) Taiwan is only a recent addition to the Chinese Empire, with colonization beginning in 1624. Today Taiwan's Aboriginal Peoples suffer under the same sorts of conditions of internal colonism that has been inflicted on Aboriginal peoples in countries such as Australia, Canada, the USA, New Zealand, and elsewhere. This page is a compilation of articles and news from various sources regarding Taiwan's Aboriginal Peoples.

The Hilltribes of Northern Thailand
The main area of hill-country in Thailand is the exotically named the Golden Triangle, it runs along the borders with Burma and northwest Laos. This is where most of the six culturally distinct tribal groups are concentrated: the tribal groups are the Karen (known to the Thais as Karieng and Yang), the Lisu (Lisaw in Thai), Lahu (Muser), Akha (Eekaw), Hmong (Meo) and Mien (Yao).
